Dressmaker Achievements
Last updated: 2026-09-28 · 10 min read
Two thirds of the Dressmaker achievement list is one idea repeated nine times: finish everything a particular client asks for. That sounds like busywork until you notice the completion rates — the hardest client chain is finished by well under one percent of players, and it is not the one with the most commissions. The rest of the list rewards going deliberately too far: fifty metres of trim on a single dress, three hundred accessories, five thousand coin blown on one outfit.
32 achievements in total. Nine are client campaign chains, one covers all the pigeon commissions, three reward extreme decoration and spending, one requires a perfect-quality dress, and the remainder track story milestones. The table below lists every one with its unlock condition and current global completion rate.
How The List Works
Most achievements unlock as a direct consequence of finishing a commission — there is no separate objective to chase. A few are hidden, which means the game does not describe them until you earn them; those are marked here so you know they exist and what they want.
The completion percentages are Steam's global figures. They are useful as a difficulty signal rather than a target: a chain sitting below one percent tells you something about how much of the game's content most players reach, not about whether the achievement is hard in isolation.

FIG. 01 — The completion dialog determines which outcome is recorded. Choosing to sell rather than hand over can leave a commission chain unfinished, and several achievements depend on the chain.

FIG. 02 — The kind of dress the excess achievements are asking for: heavy decoration, many accessory pieces, and a fabric bill to match.
The Client Chains
Nine achievements are "complete all of this client's major commissions." The completion rate spread across them is the most interesting data on this page, because it does not follow the commission count at all.
The two chains most players finish are also the two with the earliest and most forgiving commissions. The chains that stall are the ones whose later commissions ask for high tag scores on hard-to-source fabric, or a constraint that forces a specific material. A chain with seven commissions can be easier to close than one with nine if its requirements are gentler.
Practically: if you are working towards a specific chain, check that client's later commissions on the commission table before committing. A chain you cannot finish is worth less than a chain you can, and the table shows every threshold up front.
The Four Hard Ones
Three achievements reward deliberate excess rather than skill, and they are trivial once you know what they want — but easy to miss because they conflict with the economy the rest of the game teaches you.
Why The Excess Achievements Conflict With The Game
Every other system in Dressmaker pushes you towards restraint. Budgets cap your spending, wasted fabric is lost money, and the efficient habit the game trains is to buy the smallest amount that clears the requirement. The excess achievements invert that completely: they ask you to spend thousands on a single dress, or to place hundreds of decorative pieces on one garment, with no requirement to justify any of it.
The cleanest way to attempt them is to deliberately pick a commission with a large budget and treat the dress as a spending exercise rather than a job. Because a successful commission is required for the spending achievement, the dress still has to clear its own thresholds — so the expensive materials have to be the right expensive materials, not random ones. Pairing the spending push with a client whose requirements you already know you can meet turns a normally wasteful dress into a reasonable one.
The accessory-count achievement is the least skill-dependent of the four and the most preparation-dependent. Item-priced accessories are bought individually, so the work is a shopping trip before the dress even exists. Metre-priced trim cannot substitute, because trim is measured in length rather than counted in pieces — that distinction is what separates this achievement from the trim-length one.
| Achievement | What it asks | What makes it awkward |
|---|---|---|
| 99 Problems But A Stitch Aint One | Reach 100% quality on a dress | Every panel must be grain aligned and every seam clean. One off-grain piece caps the whole dress. |
| Trim and Proper | Use more than 50m of trim on a single dress | Trim is sold by the metre and priced per metre, so this is an expensive, deliberate act. |
| Harder than it Seams | Place over 300 accessories on one dress | Item-priced accessories must be bought in quantity first. This one is a shopping trip, not a skill test. |
| Opulence and Excess | Spend more than 5,000 gold on a successful dress | The dress has to actually be accepted, so the spending cannot be pointless — it has to still clear its requirements. |
The first of those is the only one that requires new skill, and it is the same problem the quality guide solves: grain alignment before stitching precision. The other three are budget puzzles, and they are best attempted on a commission with a generous budget so the spending does not eat into your shop's working capital.
How To Approach The Dressmaker Achievements
The Dressmaker achievements divide cleanly into two kinds of work, and mixing them up is why the list feels longer than it is. The Dressmaker achievements tied to client chains are passive: they complete themselves if you keep every client moving, and there is nothing to plan. The Dressmaker achievements tied to extremes are active: they need a deliberate, wasteful commission that you would never build otherwise.
That split suggests an order. Work through the client chains as your normal play, because the commissions they need are the same commissions that unlock patterns. Save the extremes for a point when you have a comfortable income, since all three of them require spending coin on a scale the rest of the game never asks for. Attempting the Dressmaker achievements for trim or accessory counts early just slows your progression without advancing the chain achievements at all.
One caveat applies to the whole list. A few of these Dressmaker achievements depend on a specific commission outcome, and not always the outcome you would choose. Read the condition before you deliberately fail a commission you intended to pass, or before you pass one you intended to fail.
